Seit der Gründung des Netzwerks haben wir rund 81.500 Euro zur Unterstützung von Überlebenden der NS-Verfolgung, ihren Angehörigen und unseren Kolleg*innen eingesetzt. Unter anderem erhielten 27 Überlebende einer jüdischen Gemeinde in der Stadt Bila Tserkva in der Nähe von Kyiv finanzielle Unterstützung vom Hilfsnetzwerk. Eine von ihnen ist Svetlana Smolskaya die mehrere Konzentrationslager in Deutschland und Polen überlebte. Wir erhielten in der letzten Woche von der Leiterin der Gemeinde, Natella Andryushchenko, ein bewegendes Dankesschreiben: „Vor einigen Tagen erhielten ältere Mitglieder unserer Gemeinde finanzielle Unterstützung vom “Hilfsnetzwerk für die Überlebenden der NS-Verfolgung in der Ukraine”. Sie alle sind Kinder des Krieges, Menschen, die die Besatzungszeit oder schwierige Evakuierungen überlebt haben. Alle sind über 80 Jahre alt, aber erinnern sich noch an die Schrecken des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Nun kam der Krieg zum zweiten Mal in ihr Haus. […] Dank Ihnen allen wissen wir, dass wir in dieser für uns schwierigen Zeit nicht allein sind. Friede und Wohlstand für uns alle!“

A few days ago, elderly members of our community received financial assistance from your foundation — “Aid network for the survivors of Nazi persecution in Ukraine”. All of them are children of the war, people who survived in the occupation or difficult evacuation. All of them are over 80 years old, but they still remember the horrors of World War II. And now the war came to their house for the second time. Our city suffered from rocket attacks, all the old people were forced to hide in basements in difficult accommodations. For example, Svetlana Smolskaya, who survived several concentration camps at Deutsche Alau in Poland and Germany. She lost her younger brother while they were staying in the Orphanage Kyiv Kindergarten No.1, she miraculously escaped. Her mother died immediately after the war, and Svetlana remained an orphan. Svetlana’s husband Boris remembers the war and famine, he does not allow himself to throw away even a piece of bread. He enjoyed your help like a child. The stories of these people can be described in books about the war. Our old people still cannot believe that a war has come to peaceful, flowering Ukraine again. Every day people die, children left without parents, and the elderly forced to drag out a miserable existence. The help that came from the foundation “Aid network for the survivors of Nazi persecution in Ukraine” has become a huge support for 27 old people from the city of Bila Tserkva. We want to thank you so much for your kind hearts. Thanks to all of you, we understand that we are not alone in this difficult time for us.
